This former ancient capital hosts a striking mosque and three stunning palaces said to have been built for each of his three wives! Grab your khakis and pith hat, today we embark upon a journey within the wildlife sanctuary of Ranthambore. Enjoy an up close and personal view of the animals as we travel by jeep through the jungle on our own personal safari. There aren’t any lions or bears, but be sure to be on the lookout for tigers during our excursion (oh my!).
After a tasty lunch, we head back out to visit the famous Dastkari village where village women work under a Non-Governmental Organization, or NGO, creating an alternate means of income to sustain their families. Spend some time browsing the arts and crafts – from patchwork quilts to black pottery – available for purchase. If you are in need for some serious retail therapy, check out the colorful array of Kurtis, skirts and tie-dye apparel. The best part? All of the profits from your purchases go directly to the local village women, so feel free to shop till you drop!
After our time in the Dastkari village, we will return to our hotel where the rest of the day is yours to enjoy.

Today we take a morning drive to the fabled “Pink City” of the desert, Jaipur. Named after the former Maharaja of Jaipur, Jai Singh, this is the only city in the world symbolizing the nine divisions of the universe through the nine rectangular sectors subdividing it. After we check in to our hotel, feel free to enjoy the stunning palaces and stately forts of the yesteryears. Once witnesses to the royal processions and all of its splendours, they are now true living monuments with their elaborate architecture serving as a reminder of their royal legacy. As you stroll by the pink walls of the city’s buildings, you will quickly realize why Jaipur is called the “Pink City”.

After breakfast, get ready for a little sightseeing to view the wonders of Jaipur. The majestic Amber Fort, with its blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture, is nothing short of amazing. This former capital of the royals is set against the backdrop of wooded hills, providing a picturesque scene. Up next, prepare for a visit to the Palace of Winds, also known as Hawa Mahal. This elaborate building, now little more than a façade, is encrusted with delicate screens and carved balconies from which the royal ladies, confined to their quarters, could sneak views of the outside world. Past, present and future merge at Jai Singh’s observatory, where time has been accurately measured since the 17th century. Not only is it ranked as one of the largest observatories in the world, it also holds the largest sundial. It is truly a sight to see!
Once our sightseeing concludes, you may continue exploring more of Jaipur’s wonders or take a trip to the bazaar to experience a true shopper’s paradise.
